Safety First

So I'm riding around a little yesterday and it suddenly occurred to me that I'd had my bike for almost exactly 2 years. And THEN it occurred to me that the factory warranty had just run out. And THEN it occurred to me that the Virginia State Safety Inspection might be due. A stop and a peek at the state sticker revealed the awful truth. I was due!! Yikes.

So after a couple "Oh Shits" plus a "Dammit" or two, I remembered having a 5 year extended warranty...a good thing. Also got an extra tire and wheel warranty, so that worry didn't last long. And you know what?: Maybe a safety inspection before hitting the road ain't such a bad thing either. I'll get that out of the way this weekend, and I'll carefully read that extended warranty paperwork.

P.S. I bought a damn cup holder yesterday. Can you believe that? A fucking cup holder for my motorcycle. I should have my ass kicked for fucking up a cool bike with all this extra crap (but I'll bet I appreciate all of it on the long ride, so let me slide, please! I promise to strip it back down when I get home.)

P.P.S. The inspection station guy said the bike needed back brake pads, and he was definitely correct. Glad the inspection happened to be due or I might have had some issues during the trip. So, I did the work myself today....Sat, 6/12, and I think the bike is ready to go. I'll get all the crap bolted back on....maybe tomorrow.

Probably many other reasons (cup holder aside) why you should have your @ss kiccked!! :P

I'm sure there will be a time when you will be loving easy access to a drink...especially down south, in JULY no less!!.

Countless reasons for an ass-kicking. Ask any of my ex's.

Definitely agree....Will be nice to enjoy a sip of Cool Blue Gatorade on a hot stretch of country road. I have been out there a time or two when it was just too damned hot to ride, and I'm betting I'll be thinking that now and then on the trip.

!! MISSING SC PHOTOS !!

A few (as of 9/23/2012) of the approximately 139 Southern Comfort posts are still missing pictures due to a change in Blogger that I didn't anticipate. I keep working on them, and I'm getting there, but there were a total of about 60 that lost the pix, and this really turned out to be time consuming. Each frickin' picture had to be found on my hard drive and republished into the post. Alas, some posts were just deleted; I had no idea where the pix were.

I've re-published many of the recent posts, and lately, I started back at the beginning, working forward. One of these days, I'll meet in the middle and be done with it. So yes, there are pictures missing, and no, it's not anything to do with your web browser.

Content / Article Searches

Southern Comfort has outgrown any imaginable proportions, now including posts and articles of all kinds, now dating back a couple years. If you're looking for anything in particular not viewable on the home page, use the search widget in the upper left-hand corner of the Blog in the menu bar. Enter a keyword or phrase and see what comes up.

For example, type in "Pitbull Lift", run the search, and you'll find all posts that mention Pitbull Lift. Then you can use the CTRL F function to run a page search to find where the search keywords appear.

High-Resolution Copies of Photos

I was recently asked if I had high-resolution copies of photos in this blog or from the Snapfish links in the right hand frame of this webpage. Except for a few that I shamelessly stole from others' Facebook pages, I have many of the newer (say mid-2010 forward) pix in hi-res format. The file size is typically 2-3MB, and some are even larger, up to 10mb. Files of that size are great for enlargements, wallpaper, or whatever, and even zoomed, the detail is good.

If you want one, or a bunch, I'll try to help out. Send me an email and a thumbnail of the photo you want. Keep in mind I can only send a few of those large files in a single email, and sending several emails with large attachments might fill up your email box.
