News and Weather

This morning, I'm watching the news for the first time since June 1. Mostly, I was interested i'n the weather, but figured I'd check in with the news to see if anyone's come up with a solution to world peace, or maybe a cure for a major disease. Beyond that, ain't much changed since I left DC.

This morning, I started thinking about the ride home, with an eye toward not riding in the rain if I don't have to. I could run north from here, taking a slightly different route than I took coming down. This seems to offer better chance of dry riding than the East Coast route I originally planned. If anyone with better access to weather info has any suggestions, shoot me an email. Will be running back up starting this Saturday.

Grand Isle today to see how the Gulf looks. Stay tuned for more.

!! MISSING SC PHOTOS !!

A few (as of 9/23/2012) of the approximately 139 Southern Comfort posts are still missing pictures due to a change in Blogger that I didn't anticipate. I keep working on them, and I'm getting there, but there were a total of about 60 that lost the pix, and this really turned out to be time consuming. Each frickin' picture had to be found on my hard drive and republished into the post. Alas, some posts were just deleted; I had no idea where the pix were.

I've re-published many of the recent posts, and lately, I started back at the beginning, working forward. One of these days, I'll meet in the middle and be done with it. So yes, there are pictures missing, and no, it's not anything to do with your web browser.

Content / Article Searches

Southern Comfort has outgrown any imaginable proportions, now including posts and articles of all kinds, now dating back a couple years. If you're looking for anything in particular not viewable on the home page, use the search widget in the upper left-hand corner of the Blog in the menu bar. Enter a keyword or phrase and see what comes up.

For example, type in "Pitbull Lift", run the search, and you'll find all posts that mention Pitbull Lift. Then you can use the CTRL F function to run a page search to find where the search keywords appear.

High-Resolution Copies of Photos

I was recently asked if I had high-resolution copies of photos in this blog or from the Snapfish links in the right hand frame of this webpage. Except for a few that I shamelessly stole from others' Facebook pages, I have many of the newer (say mid-2010 forward) pix in hi-res format. The file size is typically 2-3MB, and some are even larger, up to 10mb. Files of that size are great for enlargements, wallpaper, or whatever, and even zoomed, the detail is good.

If you want one, or a bunch, I'll try to help out. Send me an email and a thumbnail of the photo you want. Keep in mind I can only send a few of those large files in a single email, and sending several emails with large attachments might fill up your email box.
