Tuesday, 7/23, Ride Update

When we set out, I planned........well, as much planning as I usually do.......to put a few miles between the bike and home before we began sightseeing. Besides, there just wasn't much to stop and gawk at anyway. Pretty country though, and it was a welcome change to have a few twists in the road, and even a hill or two!

We got into Corinth MS, Sunday evening for a second 380+ mile day. The Limited, fully (over)loaded, running 2-up is a fucking handful, and I’m done when then trip odometer creeps up on 400. Robin shares similar thoughts, and doesn’t argue a bit when I suggest calling it a day.

On Monday we declared a play-day, touring the Corinth Civil War site and museum. Then we hauled ass to Memphis before the forecasted deluge began.

In Memphis (Southaven), we made a stop at Southern Thunder HD to say hello, and while there, I asked about my Nav/Radio system which had mysteriously shut down that morning during a rain shower, and just as mysteriously, turned back on 30 miles later. Without missing a beat, my bike was in their service department where the looked it over, confirming I had the latest software, etc. They couldn't find anything, but then wanted to wash up the bike for me. All at no charge. With rain starting to fall, I thanked them for everything, but decided to pass on the wash. Wow, what a great dealer! Off we rode to the hotel.

After the skies cleared a little, we rode up to Graceland, but Elvis, strangely, wasn’t there to greet us! Then off to the amazing......see it to believe it....Bass Pro Pyramid on the riverbank in Memphis.

On the inside, it was hard to remember you were actually indoors. With full size boats floating on small rivers filled with humongous fish, ducks walking around, and other wildlife exhibits, it was like something out of Disney. Heck, there was even a bowling alley in there.

Heading home, we passed by the party spot, Beale Street, and they were filming a movie! Traffic was a zoo, so we didn’t stop.

Today.....it’s Tuesday, right?....we hit it early and hard....Arkansas by 9, and north to Missouri. Great day to ride and make some miles.

We hit a new day-record for Robin of 396 miles, and we’ve ridden almost 1300 miles so far. We rode some highways to make better time, but ended on some killer 4 and 2 lane roads through the Ozarks, ending up in a place with the unlikely name of Osage Beach!

Osage Beach is a town on a huge lake...Lake of the Ozarks...and its very cool. We're here for the night, after a dinner of a hot fudge sundae.....YUM!

Nite y’all,
Cowboy
